ANIMUS is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated on behalf of The Myers-Briggs Company, the Myers & Briggs Foundation, CPP, Inc., the publisher of the official Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) instrument, or any other entity that owns or licenses MBTI®, Myers-Briggs®, or related certification marks.

ANIMUS is an independent personality-mapping product. We describe cognitive patterns using our own archetype names, scoring models, and narrative language. Where we reference four-letter type codes (e.g. INTJ, ENFP), letter-pair dimensions (E/I, S/N, T/F, J/P), or historical typology concepts, we do so for descriptive and educational purposes only, not to imply that our instrument is the official MBTI® questionnaire or that results are certified by any third-party typology publisher.

Nominative use & fair-use posture

Limited references to well-known typology frameworks may appear in help text, comparison copy, or user-facing explanations so readers can orient unfamiliar concepts. We believe such use is nominative (identifying the subject of discussion) and consistent with U.S. fair-use factors where applicable: transformative purpose (our own scoring and UX), no substitution for official instruments, non-misleading context, and minimal use of third-party marks relative to the overall product. Trademark symbols (®, ™) on this page acknowledge others’ rights; ANIMUS does not claim ownership of those marks.

No professional advice

Assessment output, narratives, and comparisons are informational entertainment and self-reflection tools. They are not medical, psychological, psychiatric, vocational, legal, or HR advice. Do not use ANIMUS results as the sole basis for hiring, clinical diagnosis, treatment, or high-stakes personal decisions.

Terms & conditions of use

By creating an ANIMUS account, signing in with a linked provider, or continuing to use authenticated features after acceptance, you enter a binding agreement with the ANIMUS operator (“we,” “us,” “the service”) on the terms below. If you do not agree, do not register and do not submit personal data to our systems.

1. Eligibility & account creation

You must be able to form a contract in your jurisdiction. You are responsible for credential security. One person per account unless we explicitly allow otherwise. You must affirmatively accept these terms at signup; we store the acceptance version and timestamp on your user record.

2. Data we collect and store

• Account identifiers: email address, authentication provider IDs, display name, username, profile photo URL, and timestamps.
• Assessment & activity data: questionnaire responses, computed dimension scores, generated narratives, comparison history, XP/retention fields, shop entitlements, and related metadata written to our database (including Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore and associated storage).
• Operational logs: server, payment, and security logs where applicable for fraud prevention and reliability.

Data is transmitted over TLS and stored in cloud infrastructure we control or contract with. No system is perfectly secure; you provide data at your own risk to the maximum extent permitted by law.

3. Security incidents & limitation of liability

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures, but we do not guarantee that unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, ransomware, misconfiguration, insider threat, or third-party breach will never occur. If personal data or assessment results are exposed through an incident affecting our systems or vendors, you agree that our liability is limited as follows:

• To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, goodwill, or data, arising from any breach or alleged breach of security.
• Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service or a security incident shall not exceed the greater of (a) USD $100 or (b) the amount you paid us for paid features in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim.
• You waive and release any right to bring or participate in a class, collective, or representative action against us for data incidents, to the extent such waiver is enforceable in your jurisdiction.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases our liability is limited to the minimum permitted by law.

4. No suit / dispute resolution

Except where prohibited by law, you agree that disputes will be resolved through binding individual arbitration or small-claims court, not jury trial or class litigation. You may opt out of arbitration within thirty (30) days of first acceptance by emailing a clear written notice to support@animustest.com. Governing law and venue will be the laws and courts of the operator’s principal place of business unless mandatory consumer protections in your country require otherwise.

5. Acceptable use

No scraping at scale, reverse engineering to clone our models, harassment via compare/social features, impersonation, or attempts to bypass entitlements or security controls. We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations.

6. Changes

We may update these terms by posting a new effective date. Material changes may require re-acceptance for continued use of authenticated features. The version stored on your account record is the version you agreed to at signup unless you accept a newer one.

Payments, subscriptions & refunds

One-time assessment packs (Detailed Test, Estimator, bundles) are non-refundable digital goods once checkout completes and entitlements are granted, except where required by law.

Animus Plus is a recurring subscription billed through Stripe. You may cancel anytime from the Stripe customer portal (linked after checkout or via support). Cancellation stops future charges; access remains until the end of the current billing period unless otherwise stated at checkout.

For arbitration opt-out notices referenced in the terms, email the same address with the subject line Arbitration opt-out within thirty (30) days of signup.

Data handling summary

This summary supplements the terms above; it is not legal advice. We process account and assessment data to operate profiles, comparisons, shop entitlements, and product improvements. Delete your account under Settings → Danger Zone (removes profile data, assessments, and cancels an active Plus subscription). Residual backups may persist for a limited period per provider policies.
